For our new Dallas-based VPSs we use a Supermicro host server with 128GB of memory, 12 Hex core E5 Intel Xeon CPU cores and the latest Intel SSDs for fast disk IO. We monitor load on each host server and work to ensure that each VPSs is responsive and fast. We target having, at most, 10 customers per CPU core.

Busting the buzzwords: Cloud Computing; Utility Computing; Grid Computing

There are a lot of buzzwords out there.  'Cloud' and 'Utility' computing are hot topics in the blogsphere.  We think these marketing terms are something to do with lots of servers somehow hosting a site or a service and curiously immune to anything short of a cataclysmic asteroid collision.
