Are we a good fit?
Different hosts are good at different things.
- You want the cheapest possible server. The deal sites will sell you a box for a couple of dollars a month. At that price everyone shares the same crowded hardware — fine for a VPN or a hobby bot, risky for anything you’d miss.
- You’re building on a big cloud ecosystem. Need managed databases, queues and AI services wrapped around your VM? Use AWS, Azure or GCP. That’s what they’re for.
- You want maximum specs per dollar, at scale. Hetzner is genuinely good at this. No data centres anywhere near New Zealand or Australia, and support is largely self-serve — but the price-performance is real.
- You want instant everything and never plan to talk to a human. DigitalOcean and Vultr are fine choices for fully self-sufficient developers.
- You want a server that works, and a human who helps when it doesn’t. A sysadmin who knows your name, replies in under an hour, will set things up for you, and has been doing exactly this since 2003 — with servers in Auckland, Sydney, Dallas, London and Frankfurt.
